Key Scripture
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:9
There is no more important question in a person's life than whether they are truly saved. Not whether they attend church, have been baptized, or were raised in a Christian home. The Bible is very specific about what salvation is, how it comes, and what it produces. Every person must examine this for themselves.
Salvation Is by Grace Through Faith
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
You cannot earn salvation. You cannot work your way to God. No amount of good deeds, church attendance, or religious ritual can make a person right with God. Salvation is entirely a gift — received through faith alone, in Christ alone. If you are trusting anything in addition to Christ for your standing before God, you are not trusting Christ alone.
What Must I Do to Be Saved?
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:30-31
The Philippian jailer asked the most important question any person can ask. The apostles gave a single answer: believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Not believe facts about Him from a distance. Trust Him. Surrender to Him as Lord. Commit your life to Him. The word for believe in the Greek carries the weight of full reliance, not mere agreement.
Salvation Produces Change
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Salvation is not a transaction that leaves you unchanged. The Bible says you become a new creation. The old has gone. The Spirit of God comes to live inside you. Your desires begin to shift. Your relationship with sin changes. This does not mean you become perfect overnight, but something genuinely new has begun. If nothing has changed, it is worth asking honestly whether anything actually happened.
The Assurance of Salvation
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.
1 John 5:13
John writes that you can know you have eternal life. Not hope or guess. Know. The basis for that assurance is not your feelings or performance but the promises of God. If you have genuinely repented and placed your faith in Christ, God's Word guarantees your standing. Doubt may come, but it should send you back to Scripture, not into fear.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to You through Jesus Christ. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose from the dead. I now receive Him as my Lord and my Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and make me the new person Your Word says I am. I thank You for this gift. In Jesus' name, amen.
