Biblical Profiles

These profiles examine biblical people, places, powers, and spiritual themes by carefully studying every relevant passage. The goal is to present what Scripture explicitly says, then distinguish it clearly from interpretation and tradition.

Every profile uses a Scripture Confidence Indicator to mark each point by how directly it comes from the biblical text. Read the cited passages yourself. Let Scripture be the final authority.

Scripture Confidence Indicator

Explicitly Stated in Scripture

This information is directly stated in the biblical text. You can verify it by reading the passages cited.

Common Christian Interpretation

This is a widely held interpretation of Scripture shared across many Christian traditions. The biblical text supports this reading, though some details involve inference.

Historical Ministry Perspective

This reflects a perspective found in church history or specific ministry traditions. It goes beyond what the biblical text explicitly states. Read the cited passages and judge for yourself.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

A Note on Method

Every claim in these profiles is tied to a specific biblical text. Where the text is clear, we say so. Where the text is silent and we are drawing on interpretation or tradition, we mark that distinction. The goal is never to undermine the authority of Scripture, but to strengthen your confidence in it by being honest about what it does and does not say.

Read every passage cited. Study the surrounding context. Bring your questions to the Lord and to the Word. Jesus Christ is the center of every study in this library. Everything else must be evaluated in light of him.
